We have had several different attempts at opening nominations for the Academy over the years. When we do, we usually get a few nominations, just about all of them are worthy and we usually place them all in the Academy at that time. There are many older threads and new ones that come along that should be moved there without delay, so we are going to revise the rules a bit. We will now use three criteria to place a thread in the Academy:
- Anyone at any time may suggest a thread be placed in the Academy by nominating it in a PM to any of the Gauge staff, or in a thread in any forum. A Gauge administration committee will review the nomination and accept or reject it within a reasonable period.
- The Academy mod(s) will review threads in all forums that get a lot of comments by members saying that they are good candidates for the Academy. If one gets selected and it is a new thread, we will wait until the thread stops being posted to before it is moved.
- The Gauge administration staff will look for any threads that are worthy candidates and decide their merits for being placed in the Academy.
We will no longer have “nomination periods”, anyone can nominate threads at any time. We will always advise everyone if a thread has been selected to be moved and when. Since we want to try to keep the continuity of the instructional portion of the thread intact, we may remove a
few non-contributing posts in that thread once it has been moved to the Academy.
If anyone has any comments regarding this, we're always open to suggestions.
