There has been alot of interest for some time now about street paving inserts offered by Tomix. These are only available from Japan directly.
These inserts are designed to fit Tomix Mini Rail pieces: Tomix 1111 Radius 103mm Tomix 1112 Radius 140mm Tomix 1113 Radius 177mm Tomix 1231 and Tomix 1232 switches Radius 140mm Many people are asking for more information, but as all Tomix documentation is in Japanese it is hard to get information without purchasing the item. Below are some scans from the Tomix 3076 instruction diagrams. |

The first step in assembling the tram track kit is to add the the support piece that goes under the track. For this straight piece, the track is Tomix 1021 140mm in length. The track snaps into the support piece.
I needed to use glue to hold the piece together, but I still wanted to be able to change track configurations if need be, so I used Woodland Scenics Accent Glue. Last edited by bill937ca; 05-06-2007 at 06:29 PM. |

The colour of the street inserts at first had seemed a bit odd until I noticed that in Japan the rails are often paved with large stone blocks. Here are some examples.

A further update. I am building a table top layout with Tomix track and the street sections. The street section pieces are scribed on the underside so I can cut the 60 degree pieces in half while building 90 degree curves. I have now done some testing of the track and have one section operating.
I plan to post some photos of the layout, perhaps as early as this weekend, in a separate thread. |

If you have not seen it, Plaza Japan on ebay sells most of the Tomix track and trolley items shown in this thread. I have purchased many items from them. The service is really fast, often delivering within a week. The prices are not bad. Plaza Japan also has Kato, Greenmax, etc.

Realistically 140mm (5 1/2") is my minimum radius except for a few spots that are limited to single truck or double truck cars only. |
