Default password problems, or do you need to tweak your settings?

hi all,

I have gotten some email and read some posts on big papermodel mailing list in regards to password problems or retention.

This applies to being automatically logged on to the site
When you log into this site you will see a welcome box, it includes your nick, avatar, and how many new posts since the last time you visited.

If you click on your nick in that box, you can access the settings, you can change your email, password, avatars, or other little items.

If there are any other problems Ron or I can dive under the hood and reset your password, we will let you know what it is once we have changed it, if you need more help.

Also keep in mind that we do have a password emailing feature on the site, so if you forgot, you can request an email with your password in it.

Let me know if you need any more help(lottery number aren't my thing :P )

Rick

Keep in mind, New Users, I am no longer an admin here at cardmodels.net you will need to contact the other admins, I can no longer help you.

Since you brought it up Rick,

I find I have to enter my login *twice* before the forum accepts it.

I've tried manually and the login thingy in my IE5 but it's always the same. Been happening for months but I havn't worried too much as I thought it was my system somewhere as no-one else has written about it.

I fixed it I think

It looks like the front portal page doesn't like to have additional form
actions planted inside of it. It was the 'donation' button inside the 'welcome to cardmodels.net' box. Give it a try and see if it fixed the problem

All the best

Ron

I have just started using this site and have some problems. I have to log in twice and log out twice to have a recognition (log in-log out change) in the second line. but when I am logged in it says I logged in last three minutes ago too! What is a nick? avatar?

nick=nick name, handle, what you go by on the boards

avatar=a small picture which could be one, of yourself, something you love, where you are from,
mine, the big truck, is the DAF Turbo Twin from 1986' Paris Dakar race, anyone who knows me, knows that i love the Dakar.

as for the log in, you might save the cookie in a different place, or see if your settings are correct

Rick

With Firefox, the login worked strangely if I typed cardmodels.net in the address bar or if I came from an outside link. (I logged in and there were no "new posts since your last visit" - because I had to log in twice)
The solution was to bookmark the homepage once I was logged in. Now I keep coming back through my bookmarks and all works perfectly.

The same worked for me Joseph. Bookmarking the homepage after you've logged in (be sure to check the box that says "remember me") should solve your problem RJM.
