Hi everyone
It really saddens me to announce that I soon will no longer be able to maintain my role here at Cardmodels.net. Since losing my employment at the end of May, things have gone from bad to worse. I've lost 1 internet connection and am soon going to lose the next. It's come to the point where worrying about the rent is taking precedence over worrying about the 'net. My wife is full of fear for the future and I have to make it good somehow. We've gone great distances with this site! From being the first English speaking web based forum to being the largest English speaking paper model website on the planet! If it wasn't for my dear friend Rick and the many wonderful people here, none of this would have ever happened. I want to thank all of you for sticking by me and the site for the last few years. It is something that each and every one of you should be proud of. Because of you, paper modeling has established a foothold in the western hemisphere like never before. This site will not be closing down. It will be carried on and the reigns will be put directly into the hands of Rick. Cardmodels.net will be in need of a co-admin to take my place doing the coding, site mods and other general things that go on around here on a day to day basis.. If you have been an active member here and know a bit of PHP and MySQL *and* have the time and commitment to carry on with the site, please pm me or send me an email. I want to thank everyone here for sharing little bits of their wonderful lives with me on a day to day basis. I am proud to say that I have found some of the best friends a man could ever want in our community. I will truly miss you guys. Ron

Ron,
The existance of this site has literally opened up a whole new world, no, a family, that I have had the pleasure of corresponding with over the last year or so. I have learned so much, enjoyed even more, and the thought of you not being part of it is heart breaking to say the least. I can never thank you and the other administrators enough for making this family what it is for all of us. I assure you that all the labor and time you and the others have invested in it have paid enormous dividends to each modeler personally as well as the card modeling community as a whole. This unselfish dedication is what makes this part of the modeling world so unique and enjoyable. I do hope you will continue to be part of the forum in some way, but please understand that no matter what we have all been enriched by your tireless efforts in creating and keeping this forum the vibrant instrument of our hobby that it is. I hope this is not a goodbye, my friend, but a "see you later". We'll keep the coffee pot warm for you and hope you'll stop by often. Best regards, Jim |

It will definitely be a sad day for Cardmodels.net when you depart, Ron. I do wish you the best for the future and hope everything works out better than before for you. Take care my friend!

Ron, I wish I had the ability to step into the gap but unfortunately the only code I know is Gcode for CNC mchinig centers and that is merely an interface code system. Please continue to stop in and guide us in our journey into the unknown. I wish you all the best in your search for employment I only wish you would of mentioned it sooner. Perhaps one of us could of given you a leg up on a possible job opurtunity

You will be missed dearly Ron. Although I still consider myself a newcomer when compared to some of the others, I am still very aware of the wonderful contributions that you have made to the entire paper modeling community. I wish you the best of luck. Please do continue to visit when you have the opportunity.

Ron,
I am very sorry to hear about your dilema. I wish you the best of luck and hope things work out quickly! I have been in your position and know how tense things can be. Check in whenever you can and know you have friends worrying about you. |

Ron,
Since I first saw your a-10 on the smartgroups site (and later migrated here when you started this site), I completed a career change and started a great new job - then lost it. So I started a business when I couldn't find work - then lost it. My wife had a baby (our third) - we still have that. I started another new job - then left it, and now I'm at a place better than I could have imagined, and I'm finally on a good track. All the while building cardmodel airplanes when I could...and visiting this site EVERY day, even if just for a minute...thank you, friend, and good luck. I wish you the best. Chris |
