Default User groups and regional meetings

Hi all,

Just another little post from one of your friendly admins, Me.

There has been some ground swell in the recent weeks/months about regional meetings, I know the New York City people are wanting to get together, and I have laid the ground work for a Delaware Valley group.

I just went through all 1408 members of the list(yeah, slow day in the office) and noticed that we have a big group and lots of people from around the world, there fore I am suggesting, if people want, we can create usergroups for interests or locations, this might help those of us who want to meet, and have thought it might be a scary thing, trust me, it is not.

Let me know if you want a usergroup set up, and I will help you out, email me at rickstef@cardmodels.net if you want more info or have a group set up.

As an example I have started a usergroup for the Greater Delaware Valley Paper Model and Social Club(GDVPMSC).
Click on the usergroup tab at the top right under the main banner of the site, and it will take you to that main page, only the admins, Ron and myself can add usergroups, so let us know(sorry Ron, you got drafted )

Looking forward to creating a whole bunch of user groups

Rick

here in the philippines, aside from Hans Christian and TausugAir, i do not know other cardmodelers. cardmodeling or paper sculpture isnt much known here (the only people that i know who do cardmodels are architecture / fine arts students) But an Asian group will be really nice.

Hi again

Engineering studes like me are also required to build scale models. Of course, card is the best (and only) suitable material. I'm having a blast in my work our final project for drawing class is a scale replica of a house based on our house plans that we copied from original ones.

I chose my own house for the plans and the engineer who designed it was my uncle

While I'm having a great time in my model, most of my classmates think of it as their worst nightmare...

Hi Folks, I think it's the same here in Thailand, the only guy I know is Nobi and a German but I lost his phonenumber so it's only Nobi and me. It would be great to have a group here in Bangkok, but papercraft is really not wellknown here !

Please don't panic, there's still a lot of work to be done. What group are you referring to by the way?

Peter,

on the old boards we had usergroups, we created two, The RPM and Greater Delaware Valley Paper Model and Social Club

I guess we need to turn on some more functionality, like the avatars

I miss my truck

Both of those usergroups exist, with a handful of members each. I'll need to know what their purpose was to see about getting them set correctly.

their raison d'etre is for the facilitation of getting local/regoinal people together

the Delaware Valley one, most of the guys live in the Delaware Valley, Philly, Wilmington, suburbs of each
the Redneck Paper Modelers are guys from Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma,Texas, and few who subscribe to the redneck philosophy(me)

A greater NYC area group would be nice. Where are the usergroups, though?
