Just a few things to remember...
Be nice! Treat everyone with respect No copyrighted file exchanges No copyright discussions. There is nothing to discuss in this regard as the trade, sale, download or provision of questionably obtained, copyrighted materials is deemed illegal and immoral by the members and operators of this board. These threads are both non-constructive and devisive. Contrary to popular belief, this is not a democracy. Anyone bringing these discussions in here can wear the 'does not play well with others' T-shirt and will be forced to spend an unspecified amount of time sitting by himself in the corner. No lude, crude or rude pictures Have fun :) |

Guys,
The latest thread with the questionable links has been deleted. My apologies for not being around to pick up on it right away. Just to make a point or 2.... Posting a pirate site out of ignorance is not a criminal act deserving of abuse or castigation (damn I like my Firefox spell checker/dictionary!) Everyone makes mistakes and I mean *everyone* Usually a person posting these sites is new to the hobby and is thinking he or she has genuinely found a new untapped legitimate resource. Pointing out that a posted site *is* a pirate site is also *not against any rules* It's a good thing when someone spots these things. People work hard to publish models and that includes everyone involved. If it wasn't for these kits, we'd be building plastic. Discussing copyright is the act of just that...talking about the intricasies of copyright law. Every country has their own laws. Each and every one is different unless they adhere to international law. Because something is deemed illegal in one country, doesn't mean it is in another. We can argue until the cows come home and it still doesn't do anything but cause friction and put us off track. It doesn't mean that pointing out a pirate site is talking about copyright. As far as this site is concerned, pirated paper models are immoral and illegal. Thats the stance we take regardless of anyone elses belief. As you can see, there is no room for discussion. I can't be around 24/7 and neither can Rick. This is the reason we have forum moderators. I don't believe we have a moderator for 'internet finds' I want to be able to let someone take on the task of checking the many links that are posted but I want it done with tact and composure. Having 'hall monitor' mentality or worse is not the way it should go. Anyone up to the task? Anyways, I'm rambling. Back to the cutting matt! Ron

Once again I'm in the position of having to delete posts because of 'very' questionable material being presented. This forces me to repeat myself again
for the nth time....NO links or files are permitted to be posted if you do not have the express right to post them. I don't care if someone spends 10 days straight re-drawing an old Maly Modelarz kit, the work is not original and most importantly, it's NOT yours to share. My apologies to everyone else here as this does not apply to you yet you're forced to see it. Ron

Jrts is and he did. The person in question actually had the site listed in his profile and his sig so I thought it best to just delete everything.

Howdy Guys,
I know we all have friends who we like to show off our work to, and anytime we can get a friend to join the forum its a great thing. But imagine telling your friend how good this group is, how helpful and nice the ppl are only to have your friend come back to you telling you that they dont wish to be associated with this group due to "the type" people here. People who are advertising porn sites on their www link button in the memberlist. I reported it to rick and am sure it will be taken care of, but like they say, you only get one chance to make a first impression. I am hoping that my friend will return and thats why I brought this to the open and attention of the membership, So that he and others can see that this is not something condoned by this group. have a good day all, Greg aka GW

A question about copyright stuff... and NO, I DON'T want to violate anything!!
I want to post some advice about assembling the model that I am building and it would be handy to post an image of the instruction sheet/diagrams with my notes on it. Is this acceptable? If it is even marginal, then I won't. Hopefully this is an acceptable use of this thread since I couldn't figure out another good place for it. Golden Bear |

GB: I don't personally have a problem with what you are proposing. From my point of view, it's just constructive criticism of the kit you are building, and help for other modelers.
Regards, Jim. |

There IS a copyright discussion.Because there's something I don't understand.
Guys publishing stolen models are quickly fired, and this is fine, but on the other hand, everybody is enthousiastic about links to sites with big bunch of documentation. Often those are obviously pictures profiles and plans scanned from books and reviews...surely copyrighted stuff. This puzzle me. I'd like to know if there's different rules about books and model files. |
