Hey - I have an entry for this one. The model is the Gee Bee R1 from Gremirmodels.com. I have 'after' pictures, but no pictures of the actual problem - sorry. After pictures can be found in the link in my signature
![]() Anyway - the problem was that I laminated the formers too thick. Specifically this caused an issue where the forward most rigging thread enters the fuselage. The problem being that the former covered the hole for the rigging. My solution was to take a straight pin and form holes into the former for the thread to be pushed into (after the former was glued into the section, but before full assembly of the fuselage). I then soaked the end of the thread in superglue to stiffen it, and using the straight pin to help push, I pushed the thread into the former and then glued it in place. I ended up putting the rear rigging lines in the fuselage at the same time - so that I had hanging thread from the fuselage for the rest of the build.

About the fixing - i'm gonna put some putty, then sand and paint the model. Like here: Modelizmas.com :: Peržiūrėti temą - ORP Conrad MM 1982/8 M 1:200 This technology is very useful for old ship models (like Maly Modelarz).

I had forgotten all about this contest as well!
So much has happened between then and now, it almost seems like that was a different lifetime! This is a great idea for a thread and contest, Chris! Thanks for starting it! Better late than never, right? ![]() I like this contest, mostly for the ideas part of it and the results of following along in the thread. One can garner a whole lot of useful information here to help them with ideas for improvement, both in modeling skills and building methods, as well as fixes! Not to mention, all the great models one can see, all in one thread! ![]() It's a whole hodge-podge of modeling stew! Grab a big bowl of it! There's plenty to go around! I don't know about anyone else but when I read a thread like this, it tends to get my creative thinking process' going and that's the mindset that you want to be in when modeling, so seeing others creative fixes, is fantastic for gaining inspiration! I will be contributing myself. Not really to try and win any prizes though. My biggest reward is garnered from the process of creation itself! Getting into that mindset of creative thinking, is reward in and of itself, as it is a happy place in my Universe, and I love being there! Sharing my ideas and creations is the second biggest thrill for me and lastly, lighting up someones face when they see my creations and ask, "You did that?!?! What more reward could anyone ask It's beyond me. ![]() OK, back to the thread. ![]() Thanks again Chris, for starting this contest/thread! ![]() Russell Cardmodels 'n More

Ok, I got 2 compound errors, one lead to the other. The first error is a little difficult to show. It's called "not thinking", or inexperience. In building the Canon Airbus A320, I jumped straight in without thinking, following the instructions. Not that the instruction are bad! Canon put out professional quality models with excellent instructions. However the models can be a little simple (for want of a better word) in their construction. After building the nose, I realised I had an onion on my hands. The instructions called for tabs, which means overlaps, not very smooth! After some consultation with a very good model forum of which I am a memeber
Fortunately Canon models come as a pdf, so it is easy to reprint! This I did and proudly ignoring the instructions continued to rebuilt the nose in fine smooth curves. I then cut off the old nose and attempted to attached my new nose, only to discover mistake number 2! Scale. I did not check the options when I reprinted the nose section, nor did I check for fit when I cut. Thus I ended with . . . turtle plane (see attached photo). Acrobat had reset the options to best fit rather full scale, so the new nose was 96% of the original! So it was a reprint, again, rebuild, again , and a wiser card modeller that thinks before he builds.Lessons learnt:
All simple, newbe mistakes, I know, but worth remembering. And I have a A320 that I am rather pround of! ![]()
