Default Kosciol Parafialny

I bought this church model a couple of weeks ago and have been wanting to build it ever since.
This model is was designed by Szymon Kolek and published by Orlik, cat Nr 033
The model contains 4 pages of parts on A3 cardstock and two pages of formers to be laminated to various thicknesses .
I ran into somewhat of a roadblock at first because the directions are written in Polish and you only get a couple of drawings of the completed church with the part numbers pointing at them. No indication of how the formers are to be assembled.
I went to the Orlik website to find the English directions as indicated on the cover only to find out that they are not ready yet.

The cover...

While looking over the Orlik site in search of anything that might help me I ran across a download of the stained glass windows to be printed out on transparancy! What a nice surprise!
I printed them out and this just added to my excitement and made me even more eager to start cutting. Below is a picture of the transparancy with a piece of cardstock behind it so you can see the wonderful coloring...

I have exchanged e-mails with Orlik and was pleasantly surprised to be sent a picture of the assembled formers and later, a drawing, which will assist me further with the assembly. Also, I found out that the church is actually located in the same town as Orlik Publishing and that is why they chose to do a model of this particlarly lovely building.

More to come later, as I progress.

It's pretty dreary outside today, dark, cold and rainy.
The lighting is pretty poor right now but I should be able to get some better pictures of the "glass" in a couple of days.
That picture just doesn't do them justice.

Hey Russell

Just wondering if this was still on hold?
Or are you working on something else.

I got caught up with designing a new scale cube and put this on the back burner for the moment.
I should be done with the cube this evening and returning to this beautiful church then.
I also haven't done anything in the past week as I had an attack of pleurisy.
Got to be the worst ailment I ever had. Super painful stuff!
After a week of antibiotics I'm good as new and back at the cutting board like nothing ever happened.
Look for my new cube within the hour!

Ya know...something as cool as those transparency windows just begs for internal lighting.

That's an excellent idea, Chris!

I may have to experiment with that idea.

An inexpensive white LED with penlite battery should be all the light you need to show off the windows. Pressing a small pushbutton hidden somewhere on the model would probably "amaze" anyone you happened to be showing it to.

After all that work on my cube, I had to take a couple days of doing nothing so I don't get burned out. You know all about that one, eh, Phil?
No card cutting, no designing.
Besides, I had a lot of housework and yard work to catch up on.
The church is back on the cutting mat and construction will commence this evening!
