Unhappy Anyone know about Maya?

I've got here a model in Maya and wanted to port it to another format so Pepakura can read it. But that seemed difficult as Maya was very selfish and does not export much... Does anyone know how to get about doing this?

I can't get the page to come up here, so I don't know if it handles Maya, but check out 3D Exploration...

http://www.xdsoft.com/explorer/

I've used it to convert several 3D models.

Quote:
3D Exploration is easy-to-use viewer for Windows 95, 98 and NT with Explorer-like interface and Open GL hardware accelerator support. It allows you to browse many popular 3D file formats - 3D Studio, LightWave, Caligari, Direct X, AutoCAD and many other, plus common 2D file types. Click-to-zoom and Drag-zoom let you explore 3D objects instantly. You can use 3D Exploration to present a slide-show of an entire folder's images, either in a window or full screen for presentations. The program also keeps track of the images that you have viewed, and lets you select your recently viewed or favorite images. It is powerful 32-bit application, written totally in C++, and so very fast.

I remeber that too. Didn't work on my laptop (duh!) but I might still have the download file at home, which should point us in the right direction where you could get it

If you are using Maya, you can export your selection as .obj format.

Cheers.

I use Maya often and the OBJ export causes a lot of problems with Papekura, often surfaces are not recognised properly. To get better results i export from Maya in 3ds format. There is a plugin for maya that allows that.
