Default Stupid nag message

"Hello Al hazlet it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?"

My question for YOU, is why you can remember my posting habits, but the @#$%!! "Remember Me" button at sign in does sweet FA to remember me and keep me signed in.

Why do you even bother to post such useless tripe on our forums!? I'm sick and Tired of people complaining about such a benign feature of a FORUM. You're not starving, running from potential death, or being persecuted for your nationality or religion, so please if you've reduced yourself to complain about this OT subject, I suggest you actually step away from your computer and go partake in what ever hobby you ENJOY on this forum instead of taking time to post this!

I will not respond to this message. Why did I take the time to answer you? It's because I'm abosolutely fed up with useless threads like this.

GO DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE.

This is not meant to be PERSONALLY offensive to you AL, but this is a general message for all those out there (and there over a dozen) who waste their time complaining.

This message is brought from the server side database as its checking posts in the database after you sign in. If your sign in is not being remembered its most likely due to cookies being disabled (its a client side feature), a browser security setting, or a spyware app setting. What brower/spyware/Operating system are you using?

Miles, If there is something a member is unhappy with I want to hear about it so I can address the problem. For every one complaint voiced ten likely aren't with the same problem. He doesn't have a history about complaining about every little thing and I think his question is valid.

Chris, I'm using Firefox and AVG. I'll investigate the cookie setting. Thanks.

(Later) After searching out and deleting all my zealot forum cookies, it seems to be working correctly now, Chris. thanks.

Well, I said I wouldn't reply to this, but it wasn't intended to be a personal attack on a fellow member. It would be callous and rude to say "Hey (you)! You're such a dipstick for posting this, you should be banned! "

That's NOT my point, it may sound offensive, but it's the subject of the post that wore my nerves thin, I have no personal opinion of Al and cannot form one, unless I can meet him, shake his hand and realize what a great person he might be. I honestly can say that I try to keep myself neutral and non-offensive because I feel that complaining across international borders about a message that someone takes the time to read and become annoyed by it is trivial compared to, the genocide in Darphur, or equally pressing national, local, and personal issues any of our members may have across the globe. That is why.

Make sense?

(as someone might point out, it's realitivally nullifying to complain about someone complaining, perhaps a slight bit hypocritical, but seriously folks, why NOT engage in your favorite hobby and post something about the progress of your latest project instead, I'd imagine we'd all appreciate that, now wouldn't we? )

I might not agree with the original poster's tone, but I will chime in and agree that the nag message is quite annoying.

I think we all need to take a deep breath and count to ten. Modeling is not for the nervous - trembling hands and all.

Miles -- phooey. You were no help at all.

Chris, Rick, Simon, thanks. Your example keeps me from blowing up and flaming all over Miles.

Ah, but why even waste the time and effort of a flamewar?

Just a waste of pixels, and electical energy.

You defended your unailenable right to the first amendment, and I did as well, and isn't in the end what really matters? (Seriously)

Good bye, I doubt we'll meet again.

Changed default to 60 days rather than 14 for this message to become active.

Miles,

You responded to a cardmodel thread, not a bad thing, but if you don't want to see the cardmodel posts you might need to reset your options to only show trains, and not cardmodels or the other items on the forum.

We all have seen this nag message at one time or another, it is annoying, and it is quite the distraction, but we from the cardmodel side of the forum were added after you train guys were established, and some of the veteran cardmodel members might not have been aware that we moved, or might not have posted in a long time.

Just thought I would let you know

Rick
