Default Rolland C.II Beta Build

Hello All,

I decided to post my Beta build in a new thread.

For my beta builders post your feedback in this thread.

I'm building it at 1/72 scale. THe parts are printed on white construction paper as I find it the best thickness for this scale.

First pic shows the main body parts laid out. The body sections have had regular paper tabs added. On the left are the bulk heads, Gunner's ring, Wing and Tailplane Struts, all doulbled up. As well as the Seat, Seat Mount, and Engine compartment.

Here we have the seat mounted, the engine compartment painted, and the bulkheads assembled and painted.

A couple shots of the seat mounted. I also developed in the process the control stick and the rear gunner's seat.

The insides of the cockpit body sections are painted and rolled.

Here the windows are made. I taped a piece of clear plastic over a print out of page 1. I then cut out the frames of another print out and painted them. I then glued the frames on to the plastic over the part layout. When dry I cut around the frames. They were then glued into the rolled body sections.

Add the filler piece for the gunner's section and when dry carefully trim off excess.

I designed it that way because it was a pain to trace out an accurate part (3 failures).

Add the engine compartment and the last nose section. When dry pierce the front disk with a straight pin for the prop shaft. Note the Gunner's ring assembled and painted nearby.

cgutzmer, Gregory Shoda, and kampfflieger, thanks for the kind words.

I finally got a chance to get a bit more work done this evening.

Here I have cut out the top wing mount hole and the tailplane slot.
