Default Banner ad issue

I've had a couple times where the pulldown menu options (search / quick links) are hidden behind the banner ads. It's happened on both an XP system and a Win98 system - both running IE. I know at least twice it was specifically the Best Buy ad - but I'm not sure if there were others that did it - I didn't pay that close attention until it became more persistent.

My best advice... Use firefox >_< There is an ad blocker add-on that you can block specific ads ^^

Yeah I have to agree... I avoided jumping on the firefox bandwagon for quite a while, but now that I have i will seriously NEVER turn back.

There are some very cool addons for firefox, just as soon as you think you have all the cool ones, even cooler ones get released.

Default Try a proxy filter

if you don't want to make the jump to a new browser, you can use a proxy filter. I have been using "The Proxomitron" for years now. Most ads disappear, the blinking, moving ads are gone (do they still have those?), and there are no nasty pop-up ads. I didn't even know there were ads at the top of the forum until someone complained about them.

A proxy filter works like it says, it sits between your browser and the internet and filters out whatever you want filtered. There is an icon in the notification area and can be turned on or off with a single mouse click. All you need to do with your browser is use the proxy server function to point to the proxy filter. There are several other proxy filters out there, both free and commercial. Google it.

I don't know how they compare to Firefox's ad blocker, but I've never looked back!
