I need plans do build a simple train top with one excetion
I want to cut holes in the 4x8 Plywood so that the 4 legs will go thru them. This way, I can attach a 1:4 all the way around the table so that it sticks up about an inch to stop derails from crashing onto the floor. I hope this makes some sense. Thanks if you can help me. Sincerly, Barney |

Why don't you try making the legs out of the 1x4, then just screw them onto the ply? Make each leg with 2 lengths glued together into an L-shape, they are strong and stable.
I built my wife a sewing table using this method, it is nearly 20 years old now... |

Two 1x4's joined in an "L" shape (or one 1x4 and one 1x3) are what's known as an L-girder. This engineered shape is very strong and should support whatever model railroad related stuff you put on it.
You might want to look up some of the table building basics at modelrailroader.com. They have lots (more than is really necessary actually) about building benchwork. There may even still be some free downloads with diagrams on building basic tables. Look for The World's Greatest Hobby stuff. Andrew
