I'm trying to do a battle damaged version of a model. All I've got is Paint.net. Has anyone done this are have any tips. I can't get anything to look right. I've tried drawing it on and it dont look right. I've tried layering pictures of mechanical damage and it dont go with the model. I'd prefer to draw it on, if anyone has any tips on how to do it.

It's a question of doing it in Layers. Take a look at what the battle damage looks like. You have blast marks, burns, multed metal, fragmentation damage as the blast shoots debris away from the blast. In imaging that in the printout. Make it in layers.. That way you can adjust each one to be as much as you would like. I'm not sure if the Paint.net sw will let you layer the additions but I just got it myself and will look into it further for you..
