Krys' prices include his cost to get the kits from Europe to Chicago (less than I would pay, since he orders larger quantities), and shipping time from Chicago to me is 2-3 days or less. I may not pay a whole lot less from Paper Model Store but S/H and the exchange rate don't hit me with painful surprises. Besides, I like doing business with Krys. Given a choice, I'll order from him or from PMI--on this side of the Big Pond. --David

I agree - Krzys is always quick to fill an order, he rectifies any fouled up orders, and throws in "Bonus" kits quite often. His prices are fair and he runs specials too. I actually lived in Portland before moving to Seattle and Visited PMI a couple of times in Beaverton - he and his wife welcomed me into their home and he also gave me some bonus material. A great source for German publishers as well as the mainline publishers from Poland. A third choice is jason @ hobbyfactory.com in Edmondton, Alberta Canada. He has a selection comparable to PMS with some interesting digital downloads available, and his pricing and shipping aren't that bad either. Jason is also quick to rectify any order problems. The only problem I have had ordering was from Cardmodelsnmore on Ebay - a still un-resolved issue over a now 2 and 1/2 month old problem for a $60.00 order that I never received. I too found ordering from Europe cost prohibitive.

I think a real survey should include ALL european stores. I've never purchased any model from PaperModelStore or Hobby-Model.pl. My models are from www.PaperModel.ro or www.Moduni.de .
I'm think for example that many guys from France are using www.Modelscentrum.free.fr or www.Moduni.fr so from my point of view is better to survey them all. |

I purchase most of my models from PMI or the Paper Model Store as for pricing when you factor in the shipping cost and the exchange charges on your credit card for non US currency I don’t think you save any money. We also need to consider the ease of doing business factor. A few years back I purchased a GPM model and I did not receive a new kit or a complete kit. The supplier was not willing to send me a new kit, and I cannot blame him for not wanting to replace the model for all he know I was just tiring to get a free model. If I had purchased the model from PMI or the Paper model store, I am sure that they would have been more then willing to replace the model.
Cost is not that important, yes I have been known to complain about the high cost of the models. But as a couple of the wise members of this forum reminded me the cost spread out over the length of enjoyment time building the model often works out to pennies per hour. Now the most important reason to support the suppliers in the US If we do not support the local suppliers, they will not be around when we need them. Jim Nunn

hi, Jim Nunn, Loadmat, Dragos and Sakrison
yes, you are rite at this point , price doesn't matter compare to true enjoyment, As for me , Im residing in Singapore , the U.S and european side s/H cost are about same to me , U.S moreever . some european publisher don't even bother to response to emails which Im quite annoyed by their manner, eg : GPM, >>> no frequency ![]() Gomix >>> barricaded ![]() Answer >>>> no answer , ![]() erm ....if fact Answer did reply once , refered me to Paper-Hobby.com website , Im so happy at first , accessed in, opened an account but then........ no models to buy........... I tried for about three months till now, still no luck as i writing right now.. GrrGrgrgrgrgrrr... ![]() |

For me, both were good choices. I received the kits on the USA, and fast.
From Model-Hobby, I even had a very polite email from Piotr, and that for me is customer care. And from Paper Model Store, all the kits in neat condition. So for me is not a matter of S&H, but of customer care. |

Paper Model Store is about as close to over-the-counter sales as you can get from Chicago to San Francisco. Kit prices are competitive to Hobby Factory (another favorite) but PMS shipping is alot cheaper (USA vs Canada). PMI kit prices to high for me. Used Model Hobby once, kit prices are great, shipping naturally cost a least twice as much as the cost of the kits and who knows when you'll received them. My experience only, not a recommendation is any way shape or form.

I've never had a real problem with any of the dealers I've dealt with over the years. I've had good experiences with all of them, but Krzys always seems willing to go the extra mile for customer satisfaction. I'm genuinely impressed with his business philosophy and while I try to order from as many dealers as I can, Krzys gets the lion's share of my business these days.

I assumed that you were purchasing in the US I would suggest that you try Marcle Models in England http://www.marcle.co.uk/new.htm. Prices include international shipping. They were the first overseas supplier I purchased from and they have always given me great service. Jim Nunn
