Thanks for the comments guys! Skip thanks for reminding me about the tutorial, I'll definitely write more when I have time (...and computer! )

Slight update over the weekend, among revising through past papers and lecture notes, I've found some time to finish Hanzel. The hands proved to be a beast, I had experimented on how far I could go with the details but I overdid it. I spent one night each dealing with them, each hand took approximately the time to play the entire Holst Planets suite on my mp3... >_< But for now he's feeling a little lonely so I decided to start Gretel asap, and she quickly took shape...

Also a little background to keep me carried away with this... Caution story unsuitable for young children >_<

The twins are only a pair of minor characters in the Black Lagoon series, but received an unexpected amount of popularity. According to the story the children were born in Romania, being sold on black market at a young age. They were used to film p*********ic films but somehow the pair survived the abuse by learning to kill. They had since become assassins hired by various criminals against each other. As a result of the abuse, "Hanzel" and "Gretel" are only two identities used by the pair, as they frequently switch between them. (Oh and for this reason the real genders of them are unknown...)

They had since learned that to live in the underworld, they must "kill or be killed". But well, they paid their price for living that way, neither of them had good endings -- The "Hanzel" was shot by a sniper and left to bleed to death, while "Gretel" attempted to escape via port, but was later gunned down by a hitman.

--Enough typing, Lex is back to revision...

Yes Skip the entire series is half dark...

Continuing with the build, I built the machine gun yesterday... Exams are drawing close and I couldn't find a patch of free space on my desk... >_<

Gretel's body...

Wrapping things up, I joined everything together today... (Just now in fact) That was quite a long project, I'm sure I'd never ever design something this complicated ever again...!

Close up

"It can's be helped"
"We shall call down the angels for them"
"Let's do it, sister!"
(The pair draws out axe and gun...)

...Oh well, one last thing, I'm not sure if I'll release this or not... --It's too damn complicated =.=|||||

Oh but you must! They may be complicated but they look so good! I love your little picture story at the end.

Well done Lex. Whether you release or not, they look amazing! Nice work.

Um... Okay Skip! Since you've said it I'll release the file! This was in fact supposed to be a practice for drawing textures for me, I never expected them to go this far... I'll be updating my site shortly ^^

These are really good Lex, I'm still amazed how fast you design and build stuff!!

Since you are listed as a Doll Maker, are you interested in traditional Ningyo at all? My wife loves them, especially Hina dolls and we went to galleries looking for them when we lived in Hong Kong. Harder to find now in TX.

Anyhow, keep up the good work!

You don't absolutely need a better camera. Remember that point and shoots have a minimal focal distance, usually around 1-1.3m. If you stay in that range, you can use the simple MS photo processing software to resize and crop the image. Your software package likely has some sort of basic image processing capability.

The other thing that will improve your photography to a great degree will be to purchase a piece of light blue or light grey posterboard on which you may photograph your models. That color most closely approximates the neutral gray standard against which camera light measuring systems are calibrated.

It's dead simple and it works.

Great job Lex! The machine gun looked great, but hey, in the end, your figures came out looking spiff-eh!
