Default Zealot confusion???

I thought when this forum was combined with the Gauge and other dispirate forums that it was an all for one one for all kind of thing where we all worked together and were all here for the same thing. I started a thread in the "Market Place" not realizing that it was only for Rail Roaders. I just had the thread shut down, without so much as a PM letting me know in advance that it was the wrong place. The thread was up for two days and some how caught the attention of a mod and was shut down.

Where would the appropriate place be to post a for sale item? Why is the "Market Place" limited to those who are members of "The Guage?" I've cross posted several times and never had any inclination that there was an issue. It seems to me that a house divided... I'm afraid I really don't understand the reason for any type of sepratism. I would think that we are all modelers and that is the common thread.

Since there isn't a Sci-Fi specific area to sell anything that might be of interest to other Sci-Fi fans and modelers, where is the right place, or is there a right place.

Does the e-bay auctions link only go for "The Guage" as well?

I'm not sure if this offends anyone, merely asking a question, but I certainly hope not. I've been cleaning out my garage and collection donations for more than one charity, or raffle and I had something I thought might interest a fellow Sci-Fi fan. The item in question is a full size Alien Head made of latex and foam rubber. Could not the moderator have given me the heads up and directed me to the correct forum, or moved the thread and informed me?

I'm quessing if I had a circa 1940's WWII era Lionel Train set that would have been OK?

Sorry I'm just not getting this.

Yeah, I guess, but it's not a paper model.... I don't know.....it just seems that...

I guess it would have been nice to have been informed before the deletion. Also, I think the thread could have been moved. No big deal really. I'm just wondering...

I still think some of the points I made are valid.

I'm happy to be here and happy to have a place to come and be in the company of so many talented people. I'm just wondering what was so offensive to delete a thread after two days?

CJT- I was a little confused when I first came to this forum. I among many things love cardstock locomotives/trains - and was pleasantly suprised - But suprised none the less when I found a model RR group within the forum. Like you said - we're all modelers which is the common bond, and this is a great website. There's a couple of really good ones in Germany too if you're into paper/cardstock models - lot's of free downloads.... now were's part 9L that I just cut out.... those carpet monsters anyway )

PSSST! If not a papermodel, probably it'll fit under off topic

Thanks for seeing where I'm coming from loadmat. I have varied and eclectic tastes. I like a lot of different things and conect with different threads and different points of view. I'm not tied to Sci-Fi, or aerospace, or trains, or anything else. I enjoy a wide variety of hobbies and hobbies within hobbies.

Artistic, mechanical, engineering..... Indoor, outdoor,....astronomy, science, history.... I'm not just interested in one thing. What was it that einstein said? "I don't find myself to be adept at anything in particular, but find myself extremely curious about everything." something to that effect, a loose translation I guess. I probably identify with that statement more than anything. I'm curious about everything and love to learn new things. I think that is the beginning to learning, being curious.

I agree that letting you know via PM would have been nice. I will ask about it.

However that said would you go to a car dealership and setup a kiosk for selling bikes? Nah... (just making a point there) They want their forum kept to train stuff and if you were selling a train type item it would likely be a go. If you posted in sales and trading type area here I would likely ask you to remove it as well (unless you were asking for card models in trade or something) If you posted it in the off topic area then I would let it remain as most anything goes in the off topic area (within reason of course)

Also we are a larger community but cardmodels is run how Russell and I see fit. The Gauge is run how they see fit. The R/C section is run how they see fit etc etc. We do not step on each others toes unless input is requested.

I totally see your point, but to be honest, I float around all over this forum and when I saw "Market Place" I didn't take the time to look at what specific fori it was attached to. My bad, I was wrong in not being more aware of the correct placement.

I was just talking to a friend last night and he stated the same thing that I've said before... "There is so much going on there that it's easy to get lost, or loose track where you're at."

This is one of the few forums I've been on that covers so many separate aspects of virtually anything having to do with the hobby of modeling.

As I've said before.."I don't know how you guys (moderators) keep up with all that goes on here."

I click on "New Posts" quite often and don't realize until later how many different places I've been to, in this forum, until I get the e-mail notification.

I appologize for my part of the misunderstanding and will endeavor to limit the same problem in the future.

Sorry for even starting this thread. I should have came to you first. However, I know you and other mods have more important things to do in keeping the peace around here and in keeping things flowing smoothly.

Nope, I think I'm going to hang on to it, repair, repaint it and take to WonderFest!
