Amongst my many (too many?) projects is a card model of this famous steam loco:
Aster Chapelon's Nord 231 It is a work in progress as a micro-scale model. Would anyone be interested in a free micro-scale download? I am also working on a version in OO, easily scaled to HO. I need to get more info about smaller details, if anyone knows of links other than these: The French National Railway Museum, Mulhouse Cité du Train - Musée du chemin de fer I particularly need details of the tender and of the inside of the driver's cab. Any takers? ![]()

I'm looking for a passenger loco in HO size to build a diorama. This is a beautiful loco.

Thank you Kooklik, it is indeed a beautiful loco, which is exactly why I'm working on it.
I was doing it for my own enjoyment in micro and OO. Since OO uses 1/76 on an HO track, conversion to HO gauge is simply a matter of re-scaling the body to fit the wheels. ![]() So ... I'm now working on this in micro (i.e. simplified detail), OO and HO. Progress will be slow, I've to continue the competition #3 build, and then there's the diorama/panorama to finish. All this work is like painting the Forth Bridge. ![]()

The prototype is definitely a beautiful locomotive. Looking forward to seeing the build photos.
The paper version will look good chugging across your model of the Forth Bridge.

Just thought I'd post some design progress.
I started with some of the easiest parts. More sometime, maybe. ![]()

That looks like the tender. Good start.

Are you using CAD for this design? Also, are you considering making this available as a kit?

Hi Mark.
This one is mostly on hold, whilst I finish my comp #3 model, but I am doing a little here and there. I am doing it in photoshop, to 1200 dpi resolution. I'm also learning the Gimp. Man! Those files are huge! Using that resolution means that when I scale down for printing - all the mistakes magically disappear. I fully intend to make this available as a free download, here on the forums. It will be in a micro scale first. The HO/OO version will need a lot more detail. Watch this space. No, not that space - this space. ![]() ![]()

When I colored U-Boat , I selected 300 dpi. That's enough for high detailing.

The benefit of working in 1200 dpi is that my hand can shake a bit, and circles can have a few 'jaggies' or 'staircases', but when I print at a lower dpi/ lower scale, everything looks sharper and cleaner. I'll post some examples soon. Thanks for the input, people, It's greatly appreciated. ![]()
